Water Bodies
Water Bodies
Water bodies are natural or artificial formations that hold or contain water. They vary in size and type, including oceans, the largest water bodies covering most of the Earth's surface; seas, smaller and partially enclosed by land; rivers, flowing bodies of freshwater moving from higher to lower ground; and lakes, large, still bodies of freshwater or saltwater, often surrounded by land.
Other types include ponds, smaller and shallower than lakes, and streams, small, fast-flowing freshwater sources. Wetlands are water-saturated areas such as marshes and swamps, rich in biodiversity.
Reservoirs and canals are human-made water bodies created for storage and transportation. Each water body plays a vital role in the ecosystem, supporting wildlife, human needs, and environmental balance.
